Located in the rural countryside near Leslie, Michigan.

The Nairobi and Grand Trunk Railway
is a 32mm gauge, 16mm scale layout.

Construction began in July of 2008,
amidst the tall weeds
and under the scorching sun.

The first project was the Tunnel under the main path.

Some 12 feet in length,
with a 4 inch thick, by 16 inch wide footing.

Odd-lot common brick were mortared in place to form the liner,
with cast portals planned for each end.

Tenmille Bullhead rail was set in Tenmille chairs
and secured to our own Cypress Sleepers.

The complete track was fixed in place
with a mixture of crushed granite and mortar.

Equipment set in place
to check the clearances of various stock.

3/4" on either side...,
good thing it's on rails!

2% Grade, up to Bumbashootie.
